The 2009 model continues in the style of 2006's complete redesign, offering a similar appealing interior layout, including the well-designed interior two-tier dash array. The 2009 Honda Civic DX, LX and EX models offer a 1.8L 4-cylinder engine that can produce 140 horsepower and 128 pound-feet of torque. That power is transmitted to the front wheels through a 5-speed manual transmission or the option 5-speed automatic.

For safety, you get a full range of overlapping protection, including front seat side airbags, full-length curtain airbags, and active front seat head restraints in addition to the standard airbag deployment. Crash test ratings yielded the Civc a perfect 5-stars in front passenger protection during frontal impacts. Side impact tests resulted in 4-stars for front passengers, and a full 5 stars for rear passengers.
