Expand your possibilities. On the EX, the available Honda Satellite-Linked Navigation System™[1] with voice recognition provides 7,000,000 destinations. On your drive there, hook up to the USB Audio Interface[2] (with navigation) and use the vehicle’s audio system controls to surf and play your digital music. And while driving in reverse, use the rearview camera (EX with navigation) as your personal back-up buddy.

The Element’s advanced i-VTEC®, 16-valve DOHC engine design provides the best of both worlds: power for cruising and twin balance shafts for smooth, quiet running.

The Element was named a 2010 TOP SAFETY PICK by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). According to the IIHS, the award "recognizes vehicles that do the best job of protecting people in front, side, rear, and now [for 2010] rollover crashes."

In Charge

Standard on every Element is a complement of advanced safety systems to keep you out of trouble and in command. Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA) helps sense oversteer or understeer in an emergency situation, and then adjusts brake pressure at each wheel and/or reduces engine power to help restore driver control and keep you on course. 4-wheel anti-lock disc brakes (ABS), along with Brake Assist, allows full braking force for authoritative stopping. And for better road composure, the Electronic Brake Distribution (EBD), helps balance braking forces and the Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) alerts the driver when a tire’s pressure reaches a significantly low level[2].

Along with side-impact door beams and front and rear crush zones, the Element was built with a highly rigid unit-body construction to lessen intrusion into the passenger cabin. This reinforced body structure helped the Element achieve a 5-star side-impact crash safety rating[3].

While sharing our roads with many other drivers, a time may arise where collision is unavoidable. For superior defense during impact, Element occupants are surrounded by six airbags. The array of coverage includes dual-stage, multiple-threshold front airbags, front side airbags with Passenger-Side Occupant Position Detection System (OPDS) and side curtain airbags—all standard.

All Element models feature Honda i-VTEC® technology for reduced emissions and higher fuel efficiency on regular unleaded gas. Gear ratios in the 5-speed automatic transmission also do their part: They are optimized to balance driving performance, fuel economy and low emissions.
