EXTERIOR

For many, the search for their version of Civic perfection ends here: The Civic Sedan.

The Same, But Way Different

Offering an all-new shape, but still instantly recognizable, the 2012 Civic Sedan is a joy to behold.

Four Doors, But Still Fun

For some, like those with kids or dogs or carpools, the convenience of four doors is indispensable.

Takes a Back Seat to No One

With touches like 16" alloy wheels on EX and above, there's no reason your sedan should be anything less than stylish.

INTERIOR

Inside, it just gets better: Civic now offers even higher levels of comfort, refinement and sophistication.

The Interface with a New Face

The new Civic has new tricks, not the least being the new intelligent Multi-Information Display (i-MID) (LX and above). The intelligent Multi-Information Display (i-MID) quickly communicates vital info such as fuel consumption, as well as Bluetooth HandsFreeLink[2] and turn-by-turn directions for models equipped with available navigation system[1].

A Newer Way to Navigate

The available Honda Satellite-Linked Navigation System with voice recognition[1] guides you to your destinations. For 2012, the Navi system includes FM traffic, a subscription-free service that alerts you to traffic conditions (available on EX and above).

Hands on the Wheel

On EX and above models, Bluetooth HandsFreeLink[2] makes calling on-the-go easier. Plus, steering wheel-mounted controls put virtually every onboard system a mere button-push away (LX and above)

The Latest in Audio

The USB Audio Interface[3] (LX and above) lets you bring your music library and play it through the audio system, and it will keep your iPod[4] charged along the way.

[1] The Honda Satellite-Linked Navigation System is available on EX and EX-L models in the United States, except Alaska. Please see your Honda dealer for details.

[2] The Bluetooth word mark and logos are owned by the Bluetooth SIG, Inc., and any use of such marks by Honda Motor Co., Ltd., is under license.

[3] The USB Audio Interface is used for direct connection to and control of some current digital audio players and other USB devices that contain MP3, WMA or AAC music files. Some USB devices with security software and digital rights-protected files may not work. Please see your Honda dealer for details.

[4] iPod Accessory is not included. iPod is a registered trademark of Apple Inc.

i-MID SYSTEM

i-MID: It's Personal.

You may know what kind of Civic matches your own style. Now comes the next step: getting personal with it. The 2012 Civic makes it a snap with i-MID, or intelligent Multi-Information Display, that sits front and center in the Civic's instrument panel (LX and above)

Photos

Nothing says "me" like the wallpaper on your computer. Now you can do the same in your Civic. Load an image of your pet, your mom, or even one of yourself. We won't judge.

Info

The new i-MID is your go-to for every important tidbit of drive-related information. See current song playing, current mpg-and even turn-by-turn directions if you opt for the available Navigation system[1].

Bluetooth Capability

The list of advanced i-MID functions is a long one, including Bluetooth HandsFreeLink[2] for hands-free phone calls. The system pairs easily with your compatible phone, and is also ready for Bluetooth Audio, so you can stream your music too.

Crystal Clear

Not only is the i-MID helpful and customizable, it's pretty, thanks to its high-resolution color TFT LCD display-the same kind of technology found on LCD monitors and the latest smartphones.

ECO-ASSIST

Efficiency is the task. The Civic, your tool.

Just Put It in ECON

The Civic now gives you a quick and easy way to drive in the most frugal manner possible. Just push the ECON button[1]. The Civic engine and other power-using systems will then go into super-efficient mode to maximize your fuel efficiency.

Onboard Eco Coach

For an interactive approach to squeezing every mile out of a gallon, keep an eye on the blue and green bars on either side of the speedometer. That's the Honda Eco Assist[1] feature, the same system found in our hybrid models. Keep it in the green, and you'll go farther. Don't need the help? You can always turn it off.

The Bottom Line: Higher MPG[2]

All of the gas-saving technology in the new Civic may help you get an estimated 39 mpg on the highway[2]. And in the new Civic HF, an estimated 41 mpg[3]. That's money in the tank.

Greener Thinking

Now, every 2012 Civic with an automatic transmission earns a PZEV (Partial-Zero-Emission Vehicle) rating in states that adhere to CARB standards[4].

PERFORMANCE

A model of efficiency and fun.

Smartly Engineered

The Civic offers the brisk performance of a 140-hp, 1.8-liter, 16-valve, SOHC i-VTEC engine that has been refined for 2012 with many friction-reducing and airflow improvements.

Lighter and Tighter

Weight-saving technologies, improved aerodynamics and engine modifications result in a new Civic with some impressive new EPA ratings. The 2012 Civic Sedan now achieves 28 city/39 highway mpg[1]. Plus, increased structural rigidity makes for more responsive handling.

Clean Machine

Every 2012 Civic with an automatic transmission earns a PZEV (Partial-Zero-Emission Vehicle) rating in states that adhere to CARB standards[2].

Choose Your Speed

Exercise your options: Choose the smooth-shifting 5-speed automatic. Or there's the 5-speed manual (DX, LX).

SAFETY

It's all about choice, but not when it comes to safety: Every Civic features the same full array of safety systems. Standard.

Active Systems: Control

To help keep you on course and away from danger, Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA)[1] helps sense oversteer or understeer, and then adjusts brake pressure at each wheel and/or reduces engine power to help restore driver control.

Standard 4-wheel anti-lock disc brakes (ABS), with Electronic Brake Distribution (EBD), help you maintain control during hard braking. Properly inflated tires are crucial for safe operation, so the Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS)[2] alerts the driver when a tire's pressure reaches a significantly low level.

Passive Systems: Protection

The Civic has been engineered to help protect you and your passengers when a frontal collision just cannot be avoided. The Advanced Compatibility Engineering (ACE) body structure utilizes a network of connected structural elements to distribute frontal crash energy more evenly throughout the front of the vehicle.

Airbags

Standard front, front side and side curtain airbags help reduce the likelihood of injuries in a collision.

Honda's Safety Philosophy

Honda is committed to providing safety for everyone—that means crash protection not only for our own drivers and passengers, but also for the occupants of other vehicles, and injury mitigation for pedestrians. We are dedicated to identifying and implementing advanced designs and features that help enhance the safety of vehicles on the road.

[1] VSA is not a substitute for safe driving. It cannot correct the vehicle’s course in every situation or compensate for reckless driving. Control of the vehicle always remains with the driver.

[2] For optimal tire wear and performance, tire pressure should be checked regularly with a gauge. Do not rely solely on the monitor system. Please see your Honda dealer for details.

ENVIRONMENT

The Civic has always been environmentally focused. For 2012, it is even more so.

Warning: History Lesson Ahead

The Civic Sedan is a direct descendant of the 1975 Civic CVCC, which was the first vehicle to pass the emissions requirement of the Clean Air Act of 1970 without using a catalytic converter. The Civic has come a long way since then, and now features technological achievements that are just as impressive.

Today's Civic

Today's Civic Sedan features a 1.8-liter, single overhead camshaft, aluminum-alloy i-VTEC 4-cylinder engine that provides exceptional fuel economy (28 city/39 hwy/32 combined mpg)[1]. Along with improved fuel efficiency, the 2012 Civic is available as a Partial Zero-Emission Vehicle (PZEV) in states that adhere to CARB standards[2].
