The 198 HP 2011 Honda CR-Z

They supercharged this awesome little car to allow it to deliver 198 HP and 181 pound-feet of torque. Both of the CR-Z's IMA electric motor and 1.5 liter i-VTEC 4-banger have been redesigned with Mugen's upgraded and strengthened internal components, resulting in a 50% increase in output and torque.

"The idea was to use the significant advantage of the early torque provided by the Honda IMA electric motor, then increase the torque available from the petrol engine gradually, to first maintain and then increase this. A supercharger and complementary electronics allow us to very neatly map the IMA to the extra power and torque of the engine in a unique package, giving a smooth, integrated and powerful driving experience", says Mugen's Colin Whittamore.

To manage all this additional power, Mugen has also made improvements to the handling and performance, with adjustable shocks and larger brakes to increase track and reduce weight.

To compliment all of this, 17-inch alloy wheels, front and rear airdams, sideskirts and a rear airdam have also been added. Though there are no immediate plans for production, there could be, provided the modded CRZ gets enough popularity at its debut at the 2011 Goodwood Festival of Speed this July. At very least, it shows what kind of amazing tuning this exceptional Honda is capable of handling.
