Honda Odyssey, Pilot, Ridgeline, Accord and V-6 Engines, proudly built in … Alabama?

Ten years ago, while constructing the new Lincoln Alabama facility, a time capsule was given to the Honda team by students at three area schools to commemorate the start of construction and memorialize "a slice of life in Lincoln a the time of the groundbreaking" says Honda website.

Just about a week ago, Alabama Governor Bob Riley joined students from the Lincoln community in the raising of the time capsule to celebrate 10 years since the groundbreaking. On the capsule a unique inscription was left that read, "We plant our dreams. May they flourish abundantly.

The people of Lincoln tend to believe that the inscription was brought to fruition through the building and success of the Honda plant. Even through times of economic crisis and decline in the automotive sector, the Lincoln Honda plant continued to grow and flourish, as did the community that supports it.

The more than 25 items in the capsule including t-shirts, year books and even a "Growlithe" Pokemon card represented life before Honda in Lincoln. Most will tell you that these things have not changed, just become better.
