For the 10th year in a row, Honda did not disappoint, with 4 of their vehicles being ranked as the most efficient vehicles available. In the ranking of environmentally-conscious transportation, the near-zero emission, natural-gas-powered Civic GX ranked first. The Civic Hybrid, Insight and Fit all joined it on the list for ACEEE’s 12 most eco-friendly vehicle available for purchase.
Out of the 10 years of making the list, it is the 9th consecutive time that Honda has held at least 3 positions in the overall top 12, something the company is proud to be recognized for, says John Mendel, executive vice president of American Honda..
“Honda’s rankings in the ACEEE study are emblematic of our commitment to lowering emissions and increasing fuel efficiency in all of our models. Honda continues to set the standard for socially and environmentally responsible vehicles with products like the Insight and Civic GX.”
The ACEEE’s ranking system rigorously tests the vehicles and pronounces a singular ranking – a “Green Score”. This ranking considers fuel economy, health-related pollution impacts and global warming emissions. This “Green Score” measures a vehicle’s total environmental impact, and Honda has been earning a high enough grade to put it on the list for a remarkable 10 years.
Which is no surprise, as Honda has a lengthy history of environmental innovation, including delivering the first hybrid, the first fuel cell vehicle and the first gas-powered vehicle to American soil and answering the call to meet the stricter emissions standards the public has come to expect. The short list of their history of successes is here:
Delivered the first gasoline Low Emissions Vehicle (LEV): 1996 Honda Civic
Delivered the first gasoline Ultra-Low Emissions Vehicle (ULEVE): 1998 Honda Accord
Delivered the first gasoline Super Ultra-Low EmissionsVehicle (SULEV): 2000 Honda Accord
Delivered the first Advanced Technology Partial-Zero Emissions Vehicle (AT-PZEV): 2001 Civic GX
We are proud to say that Honda has always strove to not only offer a positive experience from the driver’s seat, but also to the world’s population, thanks to their strong focus on providing reliable transportation that doesn’t hurt the planet.
