The test, which challenges the participants to prove their mettle on everything including pockmarked roads, smooth curves, tight first-gear turns and high-speed straight-aways and everything similar to the harshest driving conditions in Miami, Coral Gables and Miami Beach is no easy trial for the competitors, but the Honda Accord managed to again take the glory with another honored win under its belt.
Car and Driver sited the Accord's design the secret to its continued dominance, calling the Accord platform "solid and unyielding", while giving special mention to the Accord Coupe's performance by saying, "Row through the velvety manual six-speed-barking the front tires something fierce as you shift into second-and 60 mph manifests in 5.6 seconds. It feels peculiar to be nailing apexes and heel-and-toeing in an Accord-it's like yelling at your mom-but it's okay to tell friends that this is the spiritual successor to the feisty Prelude".
They found the Accord "gratifyingly competent to drive" and so do we - Honda's perfect balance of economy, performance and reliability have long been known - and ineffectually mimicked - in the auto industry since its arrival on our shores. The results should keep Honda and its vehicles the continued popular transportation of choice in Miami and all of South Florida.
