Jump forward to the present. Honda is breathing life back into that old, delightfully retro clothing line with their new Honda Heritage Collection. The offering consists of iconic Honda apparel designs dating back to those very first shirts and jackets from the 70's and 80's. Action sportswear of all kinds have been re-imagined, designed and produced in Southern California, and available online at www.lockerloop.com. Additional designs will hit the streets in late spring 2011.
Honda is excited to celebrate its heritage by recreating styles and accessories from the past," said Steve Center, vice president of American Honda's national marketing operations. "We hope that fans of Honda and vintage clothing will celebrate with us through the Honda Heritage Clothing Collection. American Honda was founded in Los Angeles in 1959, and the fact that these pieces are being designed and produced by partners in Los Angeles is a perfect fit for these historic pieces.
So, hit those fashionable South Beach streets with some morsels from the past. Initial items appear to be three tee-shirt designs with Honda's 1959 storefront and logo, a graphic from the 1974 sales brochure, and a page from the 1973 hatchback catalogue. Future items should include leather and nylon racing jackets, windbreakers and vests, all of which will include the classic Honda logos and insignias.
